Sharri Berg is the Senior Vice President of News Operations & Services for Fox News Channel & Fox Television Stations. She moved into this newly created role in October of 2005, responsible for News Operations for FNC & the Fox Television Owned & Operated news-producing stations in the U.S. She has been with Fox News Channel for 18 years holding various management positions. She is based at Fox News Channel headquarters in New York.
Sharri began her career at News Corporation more than 25 years ago as a Sales Assistant at WNYW-TV, then as an Associate Producer for Fox’s network news magazine program “The Reporters.” She moved on to Manager of Broadcast Services at Worldwide Television News (WTN), the international news agency. She left WTN as the Director of Special Events & Facilities in 1992 to return to Fox as the Coordinating Producer for the Twentieth Television’s “A Current Affair”.
As a member of the original launch team of Fox News Channel in 1996, Sharri was the Manager of Satellite Operations, where she was responsible for creating and implementing systems for the network’s worldwide satellite newsgathering and Affiliates Live Desk Operations. After two years, Sharri was promoted to Director of Field Operations; overseeing the companies’ operational field personnel, managing the national ENG camera crew division and the network’s fleet of Satellite Newsgathering vehicles and technology for the field supporting all editorial and production needs.
In October of 1999, Sharri was promoted to the Director of Newsgathering and Operations. She led the planning and budgeting for remote newsgathering & production and special news events, as well as an administrative role, managing the newsroom and production scheduling. She held this rank until October 2000 when she moved up to Vice President of News Operations. Over the years, Sharri helped lead news operations coverage of many prolific news events which included; the death of JFK Jr, Hurricane Katrina, the 9/11 terror attacks, and the subsequent war in Afghanistan.
While in this position, she was integral to the creation and launch of the ground-breaking newsgathering consortium between Fox, ABC & CBS, known as Network News Service (NNS). She later replicated this venture on the local television level, developing the business model and launching the Local News Service (LNS), a cost-efficient, news resource sharing cooperative with other local stations in the top 10 markets across the country.
Sharri served as a Mentor in the inaugural Ailes Apprentice Program in 2003, a very successful program created to provide professional long-term opportunities for minorities in the media industry. Also under Mr. Ailes’ vision for growth and opportunity, Sharri was integral to the creation and launch of the Ailes Junior Reporter Program three years ago, where aspiring on-air journalists are mentored as they hone and refine their newsgathering, writing, & storytelling skills. Each year, Sharri continues to serve as a Mentor to a graduating Communications student in the American University SOC Mentor Alumni Program.
Sharri graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. She was a founding member of AU’s School of Communications Dean’s Council in 2001. She is a Board member of the JCRC NY and a member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) at her daughter, August’s school, PS158.
